AccelerComm Partners With Tier-1 Mobile Network Operator to Pioneer AI-Controlled Energy Consumption in 5G Networks

A satellite in Low Earth Orbit. AccelerComm will help develop AI-controlled technology to cut power consumption in 5G networks, on the ground and in space.

Joint project targets significant reductions in 5G base station power consumption through AI-directed workload and resource optimization

By surfacing intelligence from deep within the base station to the wider network management stack, and enabling AI control of network resources, we're opening up a new frontier in RAN optimization.”
— Rob Maunder, AccelerComm’s CTO
SOUTHAMPTON, HAMPSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Southampton, UK, 4 November 2026 — AccelerComm, the leading provider of high-performance physical layer solutions for 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN), today announced a joint project with a leading tier-one mobile network operator to develop an intelligent interface enabling real-time artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring, control, and optimization of hardware resources within 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure.

AccelerComm’s new AI project addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing the mobile industry: the energy cost and hardware complexity of 5G base stations.

By creating a standardized telemetry and control interface between the base station's processing layer and its AI-driven management stack, AccelerComm’s AI nexus will enable networks to understand and actively manage computational load in real time, dynamically balancing workloads, reducing peak resource demands, and delivering equivalent network performance with less hardware and less power.

While introducing new artificial intelligence methods and functions, AccelerComm’s AI resource control solution is grounded in Open RAN principles and designed to produce outputs suitable for contribution to industry standardization bodies, ensuring broad applicability across the 5G ecosystem.

"This project reflects our commitment to making 5G networks more efficient, performant and cost-effective," said Rob Maunder, AccelerComm’s CTO. "By surfacing intelligence from deep within the base station to the wider network management stack, and enabling AI control of network resources, we're opening up a new frontier in RAN optimization - one with real consequences for operators' power consumption and capital expenditure."

This collaboration for advanced AI control technology builds on AccelerComm’s proven physical layer IP portfolio and is the latest in a series of co-engineering engagements with leading network operators exploring next-generation RAN performance and efficiency both on the ground and in space-based networks (NTN).
