Trump Administration Plans AI, Cybersecurity Executive Order

(MENAFN) The administration of US President Donald Trump is preparing to issue an executive order focused on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence safety later this week, according to reports citing sources.

The planned directive is expected to include at least two main components: cybersecurity measures and rules related to “covered frontier models.”

According to reports, the cybersecurity section would aim to strengthen protection for the Pentagon and other national security agencies, expand cyber workforce recruitment, improve digital defense systems across key sectors such as hospitals and banks, and promote greater information sharing between government bodies and the AI industry regarding security breaches.

The second component would introduce a multi-layered review process to determine what counts as a “covered frontier model” and evaluate such systems before they are released to the public.

The executive order is also expected to set up a “voluntary framework” requiring AI developers to provide new models to the government at least 90 days prior to public release, while also allowing access for certain critical infrastructure operators, according to the report.
