Trump Says U.S. Profits from Ukraine War
Speaking at the White House, Trump highlighted a July arms deal where the US sells weapons to NATO allies, who then supply them to Ukraine.
“We’re not spending any more on the war. You know, we’re being paid for everything we’ve sent, unlike Biden. He gave them $350 billion, and it was shocking,” Trump said, emphasizing, “the war is being funded by NATO.”
He added, “In fact, I don’t want to make money on that war, but we are actually making money on that war because they are buying our equipment, as you know.”
Trump has repeatedly criticized former President Joe Biden for approving vast military aid packages to Ukraine and referred to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as “the greatest salesman on earth.” He insists European NATO members should carry the main responsibility for supporting Ukraine’s defense.
Earlier this year, Trump revived direct talks with Russia but recently admitted that brokering peace has proven more challenging than he initially expected.
Meanwhile, Moscow continues to claim that no quantity of Western arms will prevent its military victory, arguing that NATO countries are effectively participants in the conflict.
