Trump Eager to Meet with North Korean Leader Soon
Addressing reporters at the White House as he welcomed South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Trump emphasized the strength of his rapport with Kim, describing it as a "very good relationship" and expressing eagerness to reconnect.
"I get along with him really well. I think he has a country of great potential, tremendous potential," Trump stated.
The two leaders have a history of unprecedented diplomacy, having first met in Singapore in June 2018—the inaugural summit between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). They held subsequent talks in Hanoi, Vietnam, in February 2019, and again in June that year at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom.
