Erdogan, Putin Hold Phone Call on Alaska Summit
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation on Wednesday to evaluate Putin’s recent summit with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska and to discuss the trajectory of bilateral cooperation, according to the Turkish presidency.
Erdogan conveyed that Türkiye has been actively monitoring developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and remains committed to a just and balanced resolution. He reaffirmed Ankara’s support for inclusive peace initiatives involving all relevant parties.
According to a separate readout from the Kremlin, Putin briefed Erdogan on the outcomes of his meeting with Trump in Anchorage. The discussion also touched on the current state of the war in Ukraine, with the Russian side expressing appreciation for Türkiye’s role in facilitating previous negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian officials in Istanbul.
In addition to geopolitical concerns, both leaders reviewed bilateral priorities, including efforts to boost trade and investment. The call concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain regular direct communication going forward.
