Wholesale trade rates hike by 1.09 percent in first six months of 2025

(MENAFN) The Department of Statistics (DoS) reported on Sunday that Jordan’s General Wholesale Price Index (GWPI) increased by 1.09% in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. The second-quarter GWPI rose by 1.08% year-on-year and 0.25% compared with the previous quarter, reaching 109.02 points. For the first half of the year, the index stood at 108.88 points, up from 107.70 in the same period of 2024.

Among commodity groups, the “sale of motor vehicles, parts, and motorcycles” saw the highest price increase, rising 2.87% and holding a 20.70% relative importance. Conversely, the “sale of fuels, metals, construction materials, and supplies” group recorded the largest decline, dropping 0.61% with a relative importance of 24.35%.

Quarter-on-quarter, the most notable price increase came from the “sale of machinery, equipment, and accessories” group, which rose 0.89% (11.50% relative importance), while the “sale of motor vehicles, parts, and motorcycles” group fell 0.15% over the same period. The report reflects ongoing fluctuations across sectors in wholesale trade prices.
